The best Sushi at Sydney Fish Market

THE BEST SUSHI AT SYDNEY FISH MARKET

To make great sushi, one first needs spanking fresh fish. So, it follows that one of the best places in Sydney to get your hands on world-class sushi is Australia’s home of seafood, Sydney Fish Market.  While the most famous of the Market’s takeaway offerings are probably the hot seafood platters or the blowtorched Aburi scallops, the huge range of sushi on offer at our retailers provides endless options for a lighter lunch.

Here are some of the best sushi dishes available at Sydney Fish Market… Save this for your next visit!

 Mix and Match Nigiri

One of the best ways to try a little something of everything can be found at the Peters sushi bar. Every morning, specially trained staff at this bar carefully craft row after row of delicious options from the fresh fish that arrived at market that morning.  Nigiri options on any given day include salmon (raw and grilled), tuna, prawn, scallop, kingfish, uni, eel, and octopus, just to name a few. Choose 6 of your favourite nigiri and create your own selection box for for under $15. This is a great way to make sure you get all your favourites, or to try a little taste of everything.

Sushi Bentos

If you’d rather have the experts make your choice for you, there are also a huge range of pre-made sushi bentos available for purchase at many Sydney Fish Market retailers. Ranging from fresh sashimi to maki rolls to grilled selections, these pre-made boxes make an awesome grab-and-go lunch to enjoy on the boardwalk, or even while you’re wandering our retailers.

Sushi Tacos

The sister to Fish Market Cafe’s famous Sushi Donuts, Sushi Tacos are a super fun and decidedly Instagram-able option available at the Market.  A taco shell of crunchy nori cradles your choice of fresh, cubed sashimi, rice, avocado, fish roe, and an addictively tasty sauce. Fun, and delicious!

Freshly Sliced Sashimi

If you’d rather keep it simple, purchasing some fresh sashimi if a great way to enjoy the quality of the seafood at the Market without too much adornment. Just choose your fish, your amount (by weight, price, or just by sight), and have it sliced to your liking by the experts.  There are a lot of weird and wonderful options in this category, too, if you’re feeling adventurous. Why not try some octopus, scampi, snapper or razor clam sashimi for something a bit different? When in Rome!
